Hawzah News Agency- In a post on the social network X, Costa wrote: “Today I had a detailed conversation with the President of Iran, Dr. Pezeshkian.” He repeated certain political claims regarding Iran’s peaceful nuclear program and alleged involvement in the Ukraine conflict, adding: “We agreed that continuing dialogue is essential to address and resolve these issues.”
Without assigning responsibility for the current situation of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), Costa further noted: “Given the ongoing discussions on the nuclear file in New York, I asked President Pezeshkian to take concrete steps, even at this stage, towards full cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency.”
During the meeting, President Pezeshkian stressed that the Islamic Republic of Iran does not seek war or conflict and emphasized Tehran’s readiness for constructive and friendly relations. He said Iran is prepared for dialogue and understanding aimed at resolving problems, removing obstacles, and preventing the fueling of differences.
Reaffirming Iran’s principled position, President Pezeshkian stated that the Islamic Republic has never sought, nor will it ever seek, nuclear weapons. He underlined Iran’s readiness to cooperate in order to clarify this matter and prove the baselessness of the atmosphere created against the country. “Those responsible for the current situation are the parties who violated their commitments and unilaterally withdrew from the JCPOA,” he added.
The President further noted that, since his election campaign, he has consistently emphasized national unity within Iran and the strengthening of relations with the world. He stressed that Tehran seeks to improve relations with all countries, including European states, based on mutual interests and respect. Pezeshkian also pointed out that the Zionist regime has attempted to obstruct this path from the very beginning of his administration, and such measures still continue.
